Veraval (Gujarat)/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday performed "grand mahapuja" at Somnath Temple on the occasion of Somnath Amrut Mahotsav.

Modi performed the mahapuja commemorating 75 years of the inauguration of the restored shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Modi highlighted that seeing the immense energy and enthusiasm of Lord Somnath's devotees along the temple path left him overwhelmed and emotional.

He stated that he is reliving the very moment today that India's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji, must have experienced during the inauguration of the rebuilt temple.

He further added that the devotional atmosphere of the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav is infusing an amazing energy all around.

The Prime Minister also observed that one can experience Bhakti in every corner of Somnath.

Acknowledging that countless people have come together to mark 75 years since the rebuilt temple opened its doors, Modi emphasised that the historic day was indeed a milestone in the civilisational journey of Bharat.

The Prime Minister wrote on X, "Obtaining the supreme fortune of the grand Mahapuja and Kumbhabhisheka at the feet of Mahadev on the majestic and divinely sacred land of Somnath is one of the most deeply emotional and unforgettable moments of life.

"This ethereal opportunity for the darshan and worship of Mahadev, while remembering the divine form of the people as Ishvara Janardan, has overwhelmed the heart with infinite spiritual energy, devotion, and a consciousness immersed in Shivamaya."

"To be praying to Mahadev on the special occasion marking 75 years since the rebuilt Somnath Temple opened its doors is an experience I’ll never forget. The Darshan and Pujan of Mahadev is a source of boundless spiritual energy," he added.
