‘Rahul Gandhi pushed me during protest march’: Pregnant journalist’s allegation sparks BJP-Congress faceoff

New Delhi/IBNS: A three-month-pregnant journalist has accused Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of pushing her during an INDIA bloc march towards the Supreme Court on Monday, where opposition leaders demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Richa Parashar, who works for Oneindia, alleged that the Congress MP pushed her while she was trying to get a soundbite, causing her to fall to the ground.

In a video shared on Instagram, Parashar claimed that her cameraperson fell on her, followed by four other people.

“This is Rahul Gandhi. He has pushed me,” she was heard shouting in the video.

Later in the video, Parashar alleged that Gandhi pushed her, causing her to fall down the stairs and sustain injuries to her arms and knees.

She also claimed that her mobile phone screen was damaged in the incident.

The journalist further alleged that instead of helping her, some Congress supporters present at the site hurled abuses at her.

“Rahul Gandhi talks about ‘smash the patriarchy’ and protecting women, but he was the one who grabbed me by my shoulder and pushed me,” Parashar said, breaking down in tears.

She claimed to have video footage of the incident and said she would share it “soon”.

The allegations have triggered a political confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, which have been engaged in a war of words over alleged voter irregularities.

Delhi BJP state president Rajesh Bhatia said a woman had approached him near his office, claiming that her sister, Richa, had sustained injuries after being pushed by Gandhi.

Alka Lamba questions BJP's claims

Congress leader Alka Lamba challenged the BJP's account of the alleged incident, questioning the circumstances surrounding the journalist's reported injuries and subsequent hospital visit.

Lamba raised questions about the timeline, pointing to the alleged incident between 3 pm and 4 pm and the reported hospital visit at around 8:30 pm.

She also questioned the account of an X-ray being conducted, arguing that such a procedure was unusual in pregnancy.

Lamba further alleged that the journalist's sister had approached BJP leaders in Rajendra Nagar to create propaganda.

In a post on X, Lamba wrote: “Have some shame, blind devotees! You BJP lackeys are the ones who need an X-ray and a post-mortem!”
