Only BJP can ensure peace in Manipur: PM Modi

| @indiablooms | Feb 22, 2022, at 07:26 pm

Imphal/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Tuesday that only a "double engine" government of the BJP in the Centre and in Manipur can ensure stability and peace in the northeastern state.

"We have to make the process of stability and peace permanent in Manipur," the Prime Minister told a campaign rally here.

Assembly elections are due in Manipur on Feb 28 and Mar 5.

"The Congress never understood the problems of the people of northeast," he said.

"In the last five years," he said, "you have seen the 'double engine' government's good governance and good intention".

Talking about earlier governments in Manipur, he said they did not do anything for women empowerment or in providing potable water to homes.

"The Congress did not work for connectivity and development of Manipur," he said.

"We brought Manipur on the rail map," the Prime Minister said and added, "We should not let the bandh and blockade days return. Therefore, it is important that the 'double engine' government comes to power again."
