Islamabad: A minor Sikh girl has been allegedly kidnapped and then converted to Islam in Pakistan, highlighting yet another instance of minority persecution in the south Asian nation.

According to reports, the abducted girl is the daughter of Gurdwara Panja Sahib’s granthi Pritam Singh.

"My daughter’s religion is in danger, she is in the custody of merciless people at this time," Singh told The Times of India.

According to sources, Pritam’s daughter has been ‘missing’ for the past 10 days from Hasan Abdal in Pakistan, reports the newspaper.

Pakistani human rights activist Radesh Singh Tony said forced conversions had become a routine thing in Pakistan.

“The government must immediately swing into action to recover the girl and ensure her and her family’s protection,” he told the Indian daily.
