PM Modi inaugurates renovated stadium in Sri Lanka through e-conference

New Delhi, Jun 18 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, on Saturday, inaugurated the newly renovated Durraiappah Stadium in Jaffna, Sri Lanka through e-conference, thanked the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena for his leadership, vision and co-operation.

The stadium in Sri Lanka was renovated by the Indian government, who spent Rs 7 crores for the project. The stadium was not in use for nearly two decades.

Inaugurating the stadium, PM Modi tweeted, "Renovated Durraiappah Stadium in Jaffna embodies the spirit of India-SL cooperation & is a symbol of optimism."

"I salute the visionary leadership of President @MaithripalaS, PM @RW_UNP & CM of Northern Province in ensuring the success of this project," he said while lauding the Sri Lankan President.

"Also witnessed ‘Surya Namaskar’ being performed in Jaffna, a perfect curtain raiser to #IDY2016 celebrations across the world," Modi shared.
