PM Modi should also listen others: Gandhi

| | Mar 02, 2016, at 11:00 pm
New Delhi, Mar 2 (IBNS) Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday tried to corner the Centre in the Parliament as he slammed the government over numerous issues and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should also listen to the opinion of the people of the country.

Gandhi said the Prime Minister cannot run the country on only his opinion.

"The country is not the Prime minister. The Prime Minister is not the country," Gandhi said.

"Whose opinion does the PM respect except his own? You have been taught by your teachers in the RSS that there is only one truth - Yours," Gandhi said attacking the PM.

Gandhi asked the PM to listen to the voice and opinions of his own partymen and opposition leaders.

Gandhi said the Central government has failed to provide jobs to the youths of the country.

"He (Modi) had promised to give employment to the people of the country. He even created a strong lion in the name of Make In India. But, did he give jobs to the youths?," Gandhi said while speaking in the Lok Sabha.

He said: "People tell me that they did not get any job since Modi ji came to power."

Gandhi also attacked the suicide case of  Hyderabad Central University scholar Rohith Vemula and JNU row.

"Modi ji did not say a single word on Rohith Vemula's death," he said.

Speaking on the JNU row and the arrest of student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, Gandhi said: "I heard Kanhaiya Kumar's speech. He did not speak a word in his speech which was anti-national."

He said the Modi-led government is targeting students like Vemula or JNU as they belong to 'poor sections' of the society.

"Government is targeting the JNU students because they come from poor sections of society," Gandhi said.

Attacking the Centre over the issue of black money, Gandhi said: "The government has brought 'Fair and Lovely' scheme for people to convert blackmoney into white money."

Calling Narendra Modi a 'powerful person', Gandhi said: "I am not from RSS so I make mistakes."

He said his party will not allow the government to 'crush' the JNU or the dreams of the poor people.

Referring to the recent attack on media in a Delhi court, Gandhi asked: "Why were you (government) silent when journalists, teachers and students were beaten up recently?"

"I protected the Indian flag when I allowed your ABVP workers to show me black flags at JNU. I felt no anger,I felt proud that I lived in an India where it was possible for me to be confronted by ppl who held a diff opinion than me," Gandhi said.

"You cannot defend the Indian flag by destroying the relationships between Indians," he said.
