Guwahati, Apr 9 (IBNS): The Assam police on Thursday launched a search operation against two Congress MLAs of the state including a former minister, officials said.
Police conducted search operation at the official residence of former minister and present Congress MLA Siddique Ahmed in Guwahati after a local court of Karimganj had issued non bailable warrant against him, but police failed to find the MLA.

"After issued non bailable warrant we had arrived in Guwahati this morning and launched search operation in various locations including MLA hostel but not find out him, " RP Singh, officer-in-charge of Patharkandi police station said.

In an assault case in 2011 , the local court of Karimganj had issued the roaming warrant against Ahmed.

On other hand, Gauhati High Court on Wednesday refused to accept the interim bail petition of another Congress MLA Dr Rumi Nath, who was allegedly involved with Anil Chauhan, most wanted kingpin of auto theft who was arrested recently.

Police had launched search operation against Dr Nath, but failed to trace her.

Police had already arrested her estranged husband Jacky Zakir.
