Prime Minister greets nation as Ramzan commences

Washington, June 7 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday wished the nation on the occasion of Ramzan.

"As Ramzan commences, I convey my greetings," Modi, who is currently on a five-nation tour, tweeted.

The holy month of Ramzan has commenced.

It's the most holy month for people of the Islamic sect.

Ramzan is a month long observation, where the observers will fast from a period of dawn-to-dusk and follow it up with prayers.

The average fasting continues for 12 hours, but it gets a tad difficult in places where day light remains for prolonged hours, thus fasting can stretch up 17 hours.

Ramadan is determined by the sightings of a new moon.
