Prime Minister Shram Awards for 2014 announced

New Delhi, Feb 9 (IBNS) The Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for 2014 was announced by the central government on Tuesday with 54 workers making it to the top ranks of the different award categories except the highest, the Shram Ratna Award, where no nominee was found eligible.
The nominees for the various award categories are chosen from those employed in the departmental and the public sector undertakings of the central and state governments and private sector units employing 500 or more workers.
 
Among the nominees for the 2014 awards, nine were selected for the Shram Bhushan awards, 19 for Shram Vir/Shram Veerangana and 26 for Shram Shree/Shram Devi awards. 
 
The awards consist of a cash prize and a 'sanad' or a recognition of the award winner's contribution to work.
 
The Prime Minister's Shram Awards were instituted in 1985 by the Government of India.
