Rahul Gandhi leaves for Europe, to miss crucial party meet

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reportedly left for a foreign trip again, this time a personal visit to Europe.

He is expected to return on Sunday, ahead of the Presidential elections and the monsoon session of Parliament.

This visit comes even as the party barely managed to stop defections in Goa.

His frequent visits abroad have led to critics questioning about how committed Rahul Gandhi is to taking up a leadership role, especially when the Congress faces a series of losses in the last few years.

He is set to miss a crucial party meeting scheduled on Thursday about its own presidential elections too.

The Congress president's post is currently held by Sonia Gandhi after Rahul Gandhi resigned following the 2019 Lok Sabha poll loss.

Whether or not Rahul Gandhi will contest the post is not yet clear.
