Tragedy on Kerala Highway: 8 Tamil Nadu students killed after car crashes into parked lorry
At least eight students from Tamil Nadu died after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a parked lorry on a highway in Kerala’s Thrissur district, media reports said.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 11:40 pm on Friday on National Highway-66.
CCTV footage captured the car speeding along the nearly empty highway. However, the footage did not show the moment the vehicle collided with the parked lorry.
The victims were reportedly students of PSM Engineering College in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
All eight occupants of the car died on the spot, police told India Today.
Local residents joined police and fire service personnel in the rescue operation following the crash.
The bodies were subsequently shifted to the mortuary at Thrissur Medical College.
