Rahul Gandhi meets sanitation workers

New Delhi, June 13 (IBNS) Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday met MCD workers for the second time in two days and said he will be beside them whenever they need him.

The sanitation workers of North and East Delhi called off their strike after the Delhi High Court directed the city government to immediately release funds to the East Delhi Municipal Corporation for payment of salaries to its employees.

"BJP says it's AAP's responsibility, AAP says it's BJP's responsibility, but I'll stand with them whenever they'll need me," Gandhi said after meeting the workers.

Gandhi on Friday held a meeting with the striking MCD workers.

Meanwhile, the streets of Delhi turned into war zone with Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and party workers hitting them with brooms and shovels and competing in taking  part in the cleanliness drive.

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia flagged off the campaign from his constituency Patparganj with other party workers to clean the garbage in the streets.

Other AAP leaders, like Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh and Alka Lamba, were also seen cleaning rubbish scattered all over the roads in their respective constituencies.

On the other hand Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay on Thursday said: “We have target of 48 hours to clean Delhi.”
