Rebels give slip to security in Kashmir

| | Nov 27, 2015, at 10:45 pm
Srinagar, Nov 27 (IBNS) The Kashmir Police on Friday said the forces are trying neutralize rebels who are believed to have taken cover inside shed built by tribals in the forest area of Northern Kupwara.

According to reports, a gunfight had erupted early morning in Manigah Chor Nard area of Kupwara between the heavily armed rebels and security forces that continued intermittently till last reports came.

After exchange of firing reinforcement arrived at the spot.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintend of Police Kupwara Aijaz Ahmad said, “After receiving a tip of about the presence of rebels in the area this morning, our operation team rushed to the spot. But as soon as we narrowed in, we found some pit holes dug around the sheds from where the rebels might have escaped to the forests,”.

“They are firing on joint teams of army and SOG from these dhokas,” he said. “We are zeroing on the hiding militants.”

“The search operation to flush out heavily armed rebels believed to be hiding in the forests of Kupwara District has been going on since November 13 when an Army Colonel was killed while another officer was injured”, adding that two rebels have already been gunned down while other two are still at large,” he told IBNS.
