Sakshi Maharaj calls himself true Muslim, Prophet Mohammed great 'yogi'

New Delhi, June 15 (IBNS): Sparking a fresh controversy, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj has claimed that he is a "true Muslim" and Prophet Mohammed is the biggest practitioner of yoga.

The remarks come just days ahead of the International Yoga Day that will be celebrated across the world on June 21.

"In Islam, the biggest name is that of Mohammed and I think Mohammed saab is a great yogi. I think that a Muslim with 'iman' is a Mussalman. I am a true Muslim," said Sakshi Maharaj.

Earlier, the Muslim Law Board had decided to move the Supreme Court and launch a nationwide campaign against the order that directed students to perform yoga and Surya Namaskar on June 21.
