Shivraj Singh Chouhan accepts responsibility for BJP's defeat in MP
Bhopal, Dec 12 (IBNS): Three-time Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has accepted responsibility for his party's defeat in the state.
The former Chief Minister not only took the blame on himself but also clarified that the Centre had provided him all the help he needed.
"If anyone is to blame for that, it is Shivraj Chouhan, who couldn't do it in spite of so much cooperation. I am to blame, I must be lacking somewhere... Despite the best of efforts by the central government, the party could not perform... It is perhaps because of me," Chouhan was quoted as saying by NDTV.
"I am grateful to the national head... and people of the country," he added.
Accepting the defeat, the former CM said he accepts the people mandate.
When asked if he would move to national politics, Chouhan said that his soul belongs to Madhya Padesh.
The Congress bagged 114 seats, which is below the majority mark of 116 in the 230-member Assembly. The BJP got 109 seats. The Congress will form the new government with the support of BSP and others.
