New Delhi, July 7 (IBNS): Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor, who on Saturday appeared before a court in Delhi, pertaining to the hearing of the death case of his late wife Sunanda Pushkar, said his conscience is clear and he remains confident that justice will prevail.

Tharoor is an accused in the case.

"Appeared before learned ACMM Samar Vishal at Patiala House Court today & filed surety as required. As I have done throughout, I will continue to co-operate w/the authorities as the judicial process unfolds. My conscience is clear & I remain confident that justice will prevail," he tweeted through his personal Twitter handle after obtaining a regular bail from the court, earlier in the day.

The next hearing of the case will take place on July 26.

Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a hotel room in New Delhi in 2014.

On May 14, Delhi Police filed the chargesheet in connection with the death of Pushkar, naming Tharoor as an abetter.

Reacting to the development, he had tweeted, "... it does not speak well of the methods or motivations of the Delhi Police. In oct 17, the Law Officer made a statement in the DelhiHighCourt that they have not found anything against anyone & now in 6 months they say that I have abetted a suicide. unbelievable!"

Charges under sections 498A and 306 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) were filed against the leader.

On Thursday, Tharoor was granted an anticipatory bail by Delhi's Patiala House Court on a surety of Rs 1 lakh.

According to his bail arrangement, Tharoor cannot leave the country without the permission of the court.
