Trainee swimmer drowns in Kolkata pool

Kolkata, May 31 (IBNS): A 22-year-old woman, who had joined swimming class few weeks ago, died on Tuesday morning after being drowned, while she was learning to swim in a pool at Hedua Park in north Kolkata, reports said.

According to reports, Sangeeta Das, who was a MSc 2nd Year student in Calcutta University (CU).

She went to learn swimming at Hedua Park on Tuesday early morning and went missing.

Later her body was found from Pool No. 2.

Sangeeta was immediately taken to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Alleging that Sangeeta died due to swimming trainers' negligence, her family members have lodged police complaint against the training institute and its instructors.

However, initiating a case under unintentional murder and conspiracy sections, police have started investigation into the case. No arrest has been made so far.
