UP CM Yogi Adityanath announces 3-day state mourning on Mulayam's demise

Lucknow/UNI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Monday announced a three-day state mourning on the demise of his predecessor and Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Adityanath also announced that the last rites of the former CM will be held with full state honour.

According to the condolence message issued by the CM Office, Adityanath spoke to Mulayam's son and SP president Akhilesh Yadav and brother Ram Gopal Yadav and expressed his sympathies.

Adityanath said, "The demise of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and founder of Samajwadi Party, is extremely sad.

"With his death, the main pillar of socialism and the era of struggle has come to an end."

The Chief Minister said, “I wish the departed soul peace from God and my condolences to the bereaved family and supporters. The Uttar Pradesh government announces three day state mourning on the demise of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav.

"His last rites will be performed with full state honour."

The official handle of the Samajwadi Party on Twitter informed that Singh's mortal remains were being taken to Saifai, his hometown.

"Tomorrow, on 11/10/2022, the funeral will be held in Saifai at 3 pm," it added.

Mulayam,82, passed away at Medanta hospital in Gurugram Monday morning. He was ill for the last few days.
