Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested a youth and took action against two others from Deoband in Saharanpur district on Monday for allegedly carrying out anti-national activities through social media.

An ATS spokesman said here that for the last few months information was being received that some persons were propagating extremist and anti-national ideology through social media platforms.

"Information was also received that they were planning to carry out blasts at various religious places to disturb social harmony," he said.

The spokesman said that based on the information, Inamul Haq alias Inam Imtiyaz of Patna village in Giridih district of Jharkhand and now residing in Deoband was arrested.

"He was having links with the terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba through a person and was planning to go to Pakistan for training in arms and ammunition," the spokesman said.

The spokesman said that preventive action has been taken against Haq's roommates Mohammad Furqan Ali and Nabil Khan, both residents of Muzaffarnagar.
