Kolkata/Birbhum, Jun 2 (IBNS): An Anganwadi Centre was shattered on the wee hours of Thursday due to a high-intensity explosion at Dangalpur village under Lokpur Police Station limits in West Bengal's Birbhum district, according to reports.

A local villager, Sk. Jainath, was injured in the explosion and has been admitted to a local hospital.

A heavy police force have rushed to the spot.

"We have deployed a heavy police force to the spot. After primary investigation we have come to know that a large number of crude bombs were stored inside the Anganwadi Centre. Few of those might blasted. Bomb Disposal Squad and forensic experts team are heading towards the scene. After forensic tests, actual reason behind the explosion will be known," a senior officer of Birbhum district police told IBNS.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency has sought for a report on the incident from Birbhum district police.

"We have asked the district police to submit a detailed report, including forensic report, on the matter before us. After going through the report, we will decide our steps," one NIA official told IBNS.
