After heritage walk Prosenjit plans to film Bengal's temple architecture

Kolkata, Sep 19 (IBNS) With his production house already behind critically acclaimed films like 'Sankhachil' and tv soap 'Gaaner Oparey', Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee now plans to make a documentary series on the state's rich temple architecture.

"I think the rich dome-shaped temple style of Bengal, with intricate terracota works on walls in several places in south Bengal districts, needs to be documented before they pass into ruins. Many of these temples are little known which we need to find out," Prosejit told IBNS while referring to the heritage walk in city during shooting of the blockbuster Praktan.

"I will try to film a documentary and this had been my long time wish," the 'Autograph' actor said.

Prosenjit, who thought the city has its own character and grand, majestic buildings, recalled his childhood journey in tram from north to south Kolkata as he discovered the unfolding history from one part of the city to another.

"Even these days when I go to any place I am struck by the historicity. In fact this city mirrors different worlds and time zones within few km of distance.  Again if you hit newly built up places like New Town or southern-eastern flanks of the city you will discover a new facade."

"I don't know if any other city throws up so many contrasting sights within few km radius. And that is one reason our city is now being used as outdoor locations by more and more directors from Mumbai. We from the film industry should work towards promoting and projecting our city, its quirky unique features, its varied layers," Prosenjit said.

Prosenjit, who had talked about promoting Bengal annd Kolkata in FICCI Frames in past, unveiled the official T-shirt of Praktan with lyrics about the city's heritage embossed on the front.

"Let puja revellers take out nostalgia tour during the four days wearing these t-shirts at times," he said.

Director duo Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay-Nandita Roy said this was the first such merchandise effort in the festive season as the audience will connect with the film.
