Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji unveils period track at Tagore Ancestral Home in Kolkata ahead of puja release

The release of the song, titled “Tomakei Koriyachi,” brought the film's cast and music department to the historic North Kolkata venue in period-inspired Bengali attire, paying homage to the region's literary legacy.

Actor Abir Chatterjee noted that while he had visited the landmark socially in the past, working at the site underscored the production’s thematic roots in early 20th-century Bengal.

"Our main subject matter is the film's history, our culture, and the legendary personalities of that time, what they did, their stories, their visions, what they left for us," Chatterjee said, describing the location as evoking a sense of stepping back into the era depicted on screen.

Co-star Tota Roy Choudhury, who portrays titular literary figure Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, called the landmark a central pillar of Bengali cultural heritage and expressed gratitude for staging the release there.

Cast members Mimi Chakraborty, Divyani Mondal, and Rik Chatterjee attended the event alongside vocalists Antaraa Bhattaacharya and Ishan Mitra.

Emperor vs Sarat Chandra is scheduled to premiere in theaters during the upcoming Durga Puja festival season.
