Dia Mirza supports Swades Foundation at Mumbai Marathon
The actress was present to support Ronnie and Zarina Screwvala’s Swades Foundation for their ‘Rural is Cool’ initiative to raise funds for the sake of educational and sanitation facilities for residents of the country’s rural areas. It is a well known fact that the beauty has been associated with the marathon for the past two years and her enthusiasm was no less this time round.
Dia, who was also present at a conference for the Marathon recently, was beaming with pride during the event.
Seen in a Swades Foundation red jersey, the actress turned producer looked fit and was excited to participate in the Marathon. Dia added, “To witness the city pour onto the streets on an early Sunday morning each year, to support a cause, to run and pledge their support is an inspiring example of community building. The standard chartered Mumbai marathon and my collaboration with Swades this year will always remain very special to me.” The actress never fails to voice her opinion about issues that she believes in and is a constant part of campaigns to raise funds for NGOs like PETA, CRY, ADAPT and Swades for a while now.
Swades Foundation, founded by Zarina and Ronnie Screwvala, has pledged to transform the lives of 1 Million Indians every 5 years. The NGO holds strong belief in a 360-degree holistic approach, with a focus on Community Mobilisation, Water & Sanitation, Agriculture & Livelihood, Education and Health & Nutrition. The prestigious Mumbai Marathon also supports the ‘Rural is Cool’ initiative.
Dia Mirza is an advocator of education opportunities for the underprivileged, animal welfare, women empowerment, saving tigers, better sanitation and rural development among others.
