e BIOSCOPE promises to give a strong platform to short filmmakers

Kolkata, Oct 27 (IBNS) e BIOSCOPE is a global project involving masters of this art form coming together to create a platform for showcasing upcoming talent.

The festival is a two-months and online web-cast festival of short films made in Bangla as the main language of the film. 

Its aim is to contribute to the development and promotion of artistic short films in the vernacular and their production. It targets to reach among 2.5 million Bangla speaking diaspora spread all over world, and connected through the online digital medium.

The festival program involves: A international competition of short films (maximum 39 minutes in length), Non-competitive informative film programs, retrospectives, homage profiles and other accompanying events. 

Films in non-competitive informative section can have a maximum length of 49 minutes and will be showcased at the panorama section

 This project is organized by Priya Entertainments and Bongflix. The online festival will exhibit the films in competition for minimum 60 days, and encourage more viewers for each short film selected. Online audience will be an important yardstick, besides the jury, for selection of the 20 best short films. 

These shortlisted films will then have theatrical exhibition at “Bioscope – Axis Mall”, New Town, Kolkata, India.

The project is personally mentored by Shri Arijit Dutta, Managing Director, Priya Entertainments and Oney Seal  based in Miami, USA. 

Oney is the founder & CEO of the multinational Databazar Group that pioneered IPTV or Steaming Video Distribution of Bangla Content to a worldwide audience. Apart from his core business in eCommerce & IT, Oney continues to support endeavors that are at the confluence of media & technology.

The Jury of the festival consists of people from the world of films like Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Suman Ghosh, Shiboproshad Mukherjee, Professor Shyamal Sengupta, SRFTI , June Maliah and Sudiptaa Chakravarty.

The festival will start on winter, and will showcase more than 150 films already. Films from Bangladesh, Canada, and several cities of West Bengal have already applied with multiple entries for this unique festival.

The encouraging part of the festival is that it free.

Another unique feature of this festival is after the completion of the festival the owner or  producer of it can keep the content at the site bongflix.com and earn money.

CDN, storage, marketing of these content to 2.5 million Bengalis worldwide, are entirely done by BongFlix and Priya Entertainments.

The festival also has unique social-media features to enable viral marketing via Facebook, Twitter, etc. The content is viewable within Facebook by your fans and friends.
