‘Everyone puts on weight’: Salman Khan hits back at trolls over Katrina Kaif’s postpartum body-shaming

Salman criticised trolls days after his former girlfriend and Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif faced body-shaming comments from a section of social media users over her postpartum weight gain.

The Dabangg actor also criticised paparazzi for making female actors uncomfortable by clicking photographs from different angles for online content.

Addressing the Bigg Boss 20 contestants during the 'Weekend Ka Vaar' episode, Salman said people troll celebrities over their weight, appearance, families and even their smiles, while also targeting women over post-pregnancy weight gain.

He addressed body-shaming after pregnancy, saying weight gain after pregnancy is normal and that a woman should be allowed to spend time with her family rather than being targeted over her appearance. 

"Everyone puts on weight after pregnancy. She will be fit again when she returns to work. Now she wants to spend time with her family," Salman said defending Katrina.

He also criticised the way paparazzi and social-media users comment on celebrities' bodies, clothes and appearance.

Responding to comments about his own age and appearance, Salman said, “Bhai mota ho gaya hai… kar lo na troll,” challenging trolls to look at themselves before commenting on others.

The superstar then removed his hat, jacket and shirt and showed his physique while telling trolls, “Pehle apne aap ko dekho… apne maa-baap ko dekho, phir ye sab karna.”

Katrina Kaif faces body-shaming

Salman's remarks came days after Katrina Kaif's appearance at the Ambani family's Ganpati celebrations in Mumbai sparked discussion on social media, with a section of users commenting on her postpartum appearance.

Katrina attended the celebrations at Antilia with her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal.

The couple welcomed their first child, son Vihaan, in November 2025, and their appearance at the festivities marked one of their first major public outings together since becoming parents.

For the occasion, Katrina opted for a soft mint-green Anarkali suit, paired with a heavily embroidered, colourful dupatta that added a vibrant contrast to the understated outfit.

The dupatta featured intricate embellishments and Rajasthani-inspired detailing. Katrina completed her look with traditional jewellery, including a polki necklace and matching earrings, along with a red bindi.

Fans defend Katrina

While several fans praised Katrina's festive appearance, some social media users commented on her body and compared her current appearance with photographs from before her pregnancy.

The remarks subsequently triggered a wider discussion about the expectations placed on actresses to quickly return to their earlier physical appearance after childbirth.

Many users defended Katrina, arguing that postpartum recovery is personal and that women should not be judged against older photographs or conventional beauty standards.
