Shillong, Oct 8 (IBNS) Farhan Akhtar strung his guitar for the first scene of Rock On-2 here recently. Farhan shot the scene with Summersalt, a Shillong-based band known for its tribal songs, which come with a special message.

The band comprises Kitkupar Shangpliang, the lead vocalist, Ador Shangpliang who plays the Duitara, playback singer Pynsuk Syiemiong, Dawadhok Shangpliang on the drums and home tools, Baiaineh Shangpliang on the bass guitar and Gregory Ford Nongrum on the electric guitar.

"The band has already composed a number for Rock On 2, a trans fusion track which is a mix of traditional Khasi music, rock, acoustic style, with a pinch of jazz-funk," adds a spokesperson.

Farhan, who left for Shillong last week, was joined by Arjun Rampal yesterday. Shraddha Kapoor, the new band member, will travel to the Meghalayan capital on October 12 for the two-month rock n' roll schedule.

Mukul M Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, welcomed the unit, adding that he was really keen that Farhan and his team film in Shillong. "We are delighted that the filmmakers have chosen our state instead of scouting for a destination abroad, because there is real beauty here too. We are happy to host him and his team," said the Honorable Chief Minister .

The 2008 rock musical drama, directed by Abhishek Kapoor , ended with Magik reuniting for a final performance.

Rob (Luke Kenny) dies of brain tumour, Aditya (Farhan Akhtar) and Sakshi Shroff (Prachi Desai) name their son after him, and the two other band members, Killer Drummer aka Kedar Zaveri (Purab Kohli) and Joseph Mascarenhas (Arjun Rampal) go on to start a record company together.

The sequel, directed Shujaat Saudagar, starts off from where Rock On!! ended, literally. And filming the 'live' act was Belgian's Marc Koninckx, the DOP of the film, who will be making his Bollywood debut.
