Happy films are not hero-centric any more: Subhasree
"Nowadays the makers have realised a film can't entirely rest on the shoulders of a hero and giving more care in detailing the contours of the woman character, " Subhasree who turns up in two films Prem Ki Bujhini and Abhimaan this festive season, tells IBNS here.
Subhasree, having done art house genre films as Dhumketu in past years in between masala entertainers, however feels the division between different genre of films are waning.
"The division between so-called class movie and mass movie is now getting blurred and women-centric roles are more the in-thing," she says.
Subhasree, who is pitted opposite new hero Om in Prem Ki Bujhini and superstar Jeet in Abhimaan, says her two characters "are like south and north poles".
"I prefer doing roles with multiple hues and shades," she says.
Referring to 'Bangalalona' track in Prem Ki Bujhini, which is already topping charts, Subhasree is happy that "such a playback describing the contributions and multiple roles women play in their families and workplaces has not been heard for a long time."
"The song, in tribute to women and unveiled during Devi Paksha, is both peppy but with a serious message," she says.
Eskay movies production 'Prem Ki Bujhini' and Jeet's Grassroot Production Abhimaan will not dilute each other's audience as puja days mean wholesome entertainment, Subhasree says.
