Leonardo picks up first Oscars; Mad Max, Spotlight, The Revanent win big

Los Angeles, Feb 29 (IBNS) Leonardo DiCapro and his 'The Revenant' film director Alejandro G. IÃ±Ã¡rritu bagged the best actor and best director award as Brie Larson triumphed over the other contenders to take home the best actress award while Spotlight was named the best picture in the 2016 Oscars.

One of the highest gainer of the night was Mad Max: Fury Road, with six wins the film topped the list. .

As Leo finally received his award, it was his first win after previous five failed attempts making him one of the most nominated actors in the history of this prestigious award.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu, director of The Revenant was a likely choice as he swept all the other best director awards.
