Miles to go before I can be an RJ in real life : Prosenjit

Kolkata, May 23 (IBNS) With an over three decade long dominance in the Bengali film industry, Tollywood heavyweight Prosenjit Chatterjee still says he lacks the skill of an RJ to hook people solely with oratory skills.

"They can weave magic with voice. They can attract millions of listeners and mesmerise them just with their voice," Prosenjit said at a book launch of a popular RJ here.

"I had been to FM studios and seen how RJs went on live and kept people glued to the radio sets and communicated with the people at the same time. Emotion is entwined with poems," the 'Autograph' actor said.

"We the actors are seen before the audience. So that helps in conjuring up an image when we act out a scene, The dialogue only plays a part in that. But painting a scene before listeners which they can actually see as the RJ goes on and on requires an extraordinary skill which they only possess,” Prosenjit, whose film Moner Manush had been IFFI and National award winners, said.

“I listen to FM programmes while travelling in car and they are the real stress busters,” Prosenit, currecntly doing shoot for a gritty realistic film by director Kamaleswar Mukherjee said.

About his upcoming films, Prosenjit informed how he completed 28 days’ shooting in Bangladesh for a film and day-long shooting in the city for another film back to back.

The two films are made by Goutam Ghosh and Kamaleswar Mukherjee respectively with the first one having extensively been shot in Bangladesh and along the international boundaries.

The book ‘Aaynaa’ (meaning either mirror or ‘please do come and open up your soul’) comprises of poems by the well known RJ Roopsa Dasgupta who also invited Cactus frontman Sidhu and contemporary lyricist-singer-composer Mainak ‘Bumpy’ Nag Chowdhury among others.

It was released at  Galleria M, the latest art show venue in town.
