No Nandan show for Dev-Mithun Chakraborty starrer Projapati, triggers row

Kolkata/IBNS: No screen time has been allotted at Nandan for at least a week to Bengali actor-producer Dev and veteran Mithun Chakraborty starrer Projapati, which released on Friday, fuelling fears of a fresh row over selective availability of the state-run film screening venue.

The three films which are currently running in Nandan, which is West Bengal's film centre, are Dostojee, Haami 2 and Hatyapuri.

While Haami 2 and Hatyapuri were also released in cinema halls on Friday, Dostojee has been given a fresh timing in the Christmas week.

Reacting to the development, Dev, who is an MP from the state's ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), tweeted, "Will miss u Nandan this time. No Issue Will meet again…"

In a similar situation earlier this year, TMC government's critic, director Anik Dutta's Aparajito, a film based on works of legend Satyajit Ray, was given no show in Nandan.

Raising eyebrows of many, Dev roped in veteran Mithun Chakraborty, who is speculated as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s counter face to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, for a lead character in Projapati.
