Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan's 'Toofan' is shattering records in the South Asian country since it was released on Eid-ul-Azha.

The Raihan Rafi-directed action-thriller film is breaking the record for the number of shows for any Bangla film at Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas and also at single-screen theatres, according to multiple sources as quoted by Dhaka Tribune.

'Agontuk',  'Dark World', 'Moyurakkhi',  and 'Revenge' are the other movies which released during the festivity this year apart from 'Toofan'.

“At present, ‘Toofan’ is being screened in 129 cinema halls across the country, and we got the report that every hall is full. Star Cineplex started ‘Toofan’ screening with 12 shows on Eid day, which was later increased to 22 shows, then gradually increased, and as of today, Star Cineplex has been running 55 shows per day, which will be increased to 58 shows on Friday,” Shahriar Shakil, producer of the film under Alpha-i Studios, told Dhaka Tribune.

Shakil, while briefing the media on the response the film has received, also said the other multiplexes and single screens across the country are reporting overwhelming ticket sales.

Director Rafi expressed happiness over the success of the movie and was quoted as saying by Dhaka Tribune: "We obviously had bigger expectations for ‘Toofan’ as megastar Shakib Khan delivered his best performance in this film; however, the attendance of the audiences and sales reports coming from different multiplexes made us spellbound. ‘Toofan’ has surpassed all of our expectations and calculations."

The film also stars Indian actress Mimi Chakraborty in the lead role.
