Shooting for Bengali movies, serials, web series to begin from tomorrow

Kolkata/IBNS: Your favourite movies and serials will soon be back as the West Bengal government gave permission to start shooting for TV, cinema and web series for OTT platforms from Monday.

In its latest circular related to the extension of COVID-19 lockdown, the government said: "Indoor and outdoor activities related to TV and cinema production, barring reality show production, including for web-portal and OT platforms, with not more than 35 persons per unit at a time."

Shooting activities were not going on since mid-March when the COVID-19 disease started extending its deadly grip in the country.

Bengali channel Aakash Aath, however, said shooting a mega serial with a crew of only 35 people is a 'difficult task'.

“Shooting a mega with a crew of only 35 people is a real difficult task. We have not yet decided on our strategies to shoot with this strength yet. But we assure that all our shooting units, when we start shooting, will adhere to the social distancing and health hygiene norms to the best possible," a spokesperson of Aakash Aath said.

The CM Mamata Banerjee-led government announced to extend the lockdown in the state till June 15.

However, the lockdown was extended only in the “affected areas” within containment zones.

The government, however, gave greater relaxation in all other areas.

The Union government extended the lockdown with greater relaxations till June 30.
