Veteran Bengali actress Anjana Bhowmick passes away at 79

Kolkata/IBNS: Veteran Bengali actress Anjana Bhowmick passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday.

Bhowmick, who was critically ill, was admitted to a private hospital at EM Bypass in Kolkata.

She passed away on Saturday morning.

Bhowmick, who made her film debut with Anustup Chhanda in 1964, starred alongside acting legend Uttam Kumar in several films.

Bhowmick shared screen space with Uttam Kumar in Chowringhee, Kokhono Megh, Nayika Sangbad, Roudro Chhaya, Raj Drohi.

She also featured alongside Soumitra Chattopadhyay in Mahashweta.

Bhowmick's daughter Nilanjana Sengupta is married to popular Indian actor Jisshu U Sengupta.
