2nd leg of coaching camp from Nov 6 in Jammu: JKLTA

Jammu: Ahead of restructuring the body, the Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association (JKLTA) has announced a week long coaching camp for budding and trainees from November 6 here at newly constructed Lawn Tennis Courts at Maulana Azad Sports Stadium.

Sharing details on Wednesday, Capt Murti Gupta, Hony General Secretary of the Association said: "A week long coaching camp is already underway in Srinagar and in the second leg of this activity, another camp is scheduled at Jammu from November 6."

"The association has already prepared a calendar of activities in an organised manner to be conducted in coming months but prior to that the J&K Lawn Tennis Association is being restructured and a meeting related to this was also held last evening."

"The new team members are in an upbeat mood and have shared ideas to boost tennis activities with a motive to take this sport to every nook and corner of the Union Territory," said Gupta.

He asserted that developing infrastructure, providing better facilities, engaging more sports administrators and promoters besides conducting regular activities are among few core areas on which the association will collectively be focussing upon.

"The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council is also kind enough to extend all support to the association by providing logistic help in grooming lawn tennis across the UT and as a part of this exercise, coaching camps have been initiated followed by calendar of activities in a phased manner," said the Secretary.

He however, appealed to the lawn tennis lovers to join a week-long coaching at Maulana Azad Stadium and avail the opportunity of getting trained under the guidance of Indian Tennis Association (ITA) affiliated coaches.

Gupta also thanked the Jammu Zone Police for the support extended for an upcoming camp.

He said that the meeting was conducted under the presidentship of former J&K Minister, R S Chib, President of the association while Er B S Jaggi, Treasurer, Er Hanumant Singh, Joint Secretary, Arun Gupta, C A Amit Gupta, Vishal Bharti, Dr Gaurav Vaid and Advocate Ajay Gandotra were among present.
