Kabul: Azizullah Fazli has been appointed as the Afghanistan Cricket Board's acting chairman.

The appointment has been made days after Taliban took control over the nation following its entry to Kabul on Aug 15.

According to media reports, Taliban members entered ACB headquarters in capital city Kabul on Sunday.

ACB tweeted: "Former ACB Chairman @AzizullahFazli has been re-appointed as ACB's acting Chairman. He will oversee ACB's leadership and course of action for the upcoming competitions."

Azizullah Fazli was the head of the ACB when the national team performed in the 2019 World Cup in the UK.

Afghanistan's performance in the tournament was not appreciative as the squad lost all their nine games in the tournament.

The team lost there all nine matches under the captaincy of Gulbadin Naib after which both the chairman and skipper were sacked, reports Khaama Press.
