Army Goodwill Football Premier League final on Sunday

Kokrajhar, Oct 17 (IBNS): The Indian Army in association with the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) conceptualized the BTC-Army Goodwill Football Premier League 2015 of which the final match is scheduled to held at Sports Authority of India (SAI) ground Kokrajhar on Sunday, officials said.

Important dignitaries have been invited for the final match and BTC Chief Shri Hagrama Mohilary will be present as the chief guest. 

The final match will also host I-league selectors from Kingfisher East Bengal, Sporting Club Goa, Pune FC and Assam Regimental Center, to select talented youth from BTAD to represent their teams.

The league matches started on Sept 27 and 10 under 19 teams representing various subdivisions participated in the tournament. 

All the District Sports Association were actively involved along with civil administration to select and train the players supported by the Indian Army. Kokrajhar Rhinos who beat Salbari Tigers in first seminal 7-0 will take on Parbatjhora Panthers who reached final beating Baska Biscons 2-0,  in the final clash for bagging Rs. 2 lakhs cash prize and a trophy and opportunities for players to be part of I-League team.

Col. Newton and Lt. Col R Jagath Narayan of the Indian Army in a statement said, "The football league aims to provide a platform to the local youth of BTAD to showcase their football talent and support from the administration. The Indian Army supported the players with full branded football kits and placing opportunity to youths to showcase their potentials in a proper platform so they are noticed by prominent selectors and  get selected in the state team or I-league clubs.’ He further added, ‘‘The three weeks exercise has given goodwill message in the entire BTC with a sports spirit and we expect to host houseful crowd from all the subdivisions of four districts of BTC and it will definitely give message of brotherhood in Bodoland. The Indian Army formally invites all section of society to witness the final match on Sunday."
