Hangzhou/IBNS/UNI: India's Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh's pair won the bronze medal after losing their semifinal match 8-11, 11-2, 11-9 to Aifa Azman and Mohammed Syafiq Kamal of Malaysia at the Asian Games 2023 mixed doubles squash here on Wednesday.

Anahat became the youngest Indian athlete to win a medal at the continental meet after she broke the previous record etched by shotgun shooter Shardul Vihan who won a silver medal in the men's double trap event at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

She was then 15 years, 7 months and 12 days old.

Meanwhile, Dipika and Sandhu stormed into the finals of the mixed doubles. The duo came back from behind to win their semifinals against Lee Ka Yi and Wong Chi Him of Hong Kong China 2-1 (7-11, 11-7, 11-9).

In another encounter, Saurav Ghosal trounced Henry Leung of Hong Kong China in the men's singles semifinals to play for the gold. The 37-year-old defeated his rival 11-2, 11-1, 11-6.

In all, India have won two gold, three silver, and 11 bronze medals in squash at the Asian Games.

Apart from this, India have guaranteed two more medals in this Asiad after Dipika Pallikal and her partner Harinder Pal Sandhu advanced into the finals of the mixed doubles, and Saurav Ghosal entered the finals of the men’s singles event.
