Asian Games: Indian squash players Dipika Pallikal Karthik and Joshana Chinappa settle for bronze medals

Jakarta, Aug 25 (IBNS): Squash players Dipika Pallikal Karthik and Joshana Chinappa settled for bronze medals after they were defeated in their respective women's singles semi-final clashes of the ongoing Asian Games here on Saturday.

Dipika Pallikal Karthik surrendered 0-3 (7-11, 9-11, 6-11) to former World No.1 Nicol David of Malaysia.

She is the current defending champion.

Malaysian Sivasangari Subramaniam defeated the other Indian player by 1-3 (5-11, 10-12, 11-5, 10-12).

Both the Indians settled for a bronze medal each.

Indian PM Modi tweeted: " More laurels from squash! Well done @joshnachinappa for winning a Bronze Medal and enhancing India’s pride. Your winning the medal will motivate several youngsters across India to excel in squash. #AsianGames2018."

Union Minister Babul Supriyo said: "Many Congratulations to #JoshnaChinappa on winning the Bronze medal in women's singles squash at the #AsianGames2018."
