ATK unveils new team jersey for ISL 2017

Kolkata, Nov 6 (IBNS): With few days to go for the fourth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) to begin, ATK unveiled its new team jersey for the 2017 season here on Monday.

ATK's principal owner Sanjiv Goenka along with head coach Teddy Sheringham and captain Robbie Keane were present during the unveiling of the new jersey of the team.

The tournament is scheduled to kick start from November 17.

ATK, whose new tag line is 'Amra Team Kolkata' loosely translating to 'We are team Kolkata', will play their first match against Kerala Blasters FC on Nov. 17 in Kochi.

Head Coach of ATK, Teddy Sheringham said: "I am eagerly looking forward to the fourth edition of  the Indian Super League. The team looks in good shape after the Pre-Season in Dubai. It has been exciting so far and I hope that the team will fight to retain  the crown this year."

The head coach of ATK, the two times champion of the ISL, illustrated a bit about their plans for the tournament.

Speaking about the plans for the fourth edition of ISL, Teddy said: "We plan first on league basis and then the semi finals and the finals in later stages. But first and foremost, we have to prepare well that we have done in all three seasons. Our assistants are working very hard with the team...hopefully the boys will get a good start."

Teddy even said he is eager to watch out some Indian players who will play for ATK in the ISL 2017, particularly after India's fighting spirit in the the U-17 FIFA World Cup 2017.

"I also look to the Indian players and the way they play and they attack. It will be more of a British style because that is what I know (Teddy was an English player) and hopefully that will be good enough for us and ATK" the head coach added.

The ISL 2017 and I-League are scheduled to take place simultaneously. Goenka, however, does not want to think much about the challenge regarding pulling crowd at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, venue for both the tournaments.

"We are a young club. We will never be able to compete with clubs like Mohan Bagan and East Bengal. I am hopeful that our supporters will come out to support us fully" the principal owner added.

"I am confident that they will continue to support us in the same measure on the enthusiasm they have supported us in the past," Goenka added.

About the new jersey, Goenka said: "We are happy to unveil the team’s new jersey for the upcoming fourth season of Indian Super League. The new jersey signifies the passion and the burning desire of the team to win. Genesis advertising has come up with an impeccable design for the new jersey."
