Ban over, CSK all set to return to IPL from 2018

Chennai, July 14 (IBNS): Chennai Super Kings is all set to return to Indian Premier League (IPL) from the 2018 season as its two-year ban following the spot fixing scandal ended on Thursday.

The two- time IPL champions were barred from playing 2016 and 2017 seasons of the tournament.

The team was embroiled in the spot fixing scandal  in 2013. In 2015, a Supreme Court-appointed committee banned CSK along with another IPL champion Rajasthan Royals.

They also imposed a life- long ban on former ICC chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and Royals' co-owner Raj Kundra.

As the ban got over a day back, the CSK management flooded the social media with several posts, reminding the followers some of the
heightening moments of the team in the eight years of their dream run in IPL.

CSK has an outstanding record in the IPL with two title wins and most importantly they qualified for the play-offs each time.

On Friday morning, the CSK on Twitter informed their fans and followers about their return to the cricket field. "Yellow fever all over! May be time for a contest! What say? #whistlepodu #CSKReturns" CSK tweeted.

The  team management posted  pictures of their former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

One of such post reads: "Not just @msdhoni! #CSKReturns."

This suggests clearly that the team management of CSK is clearly eyeing on to get back Dhoni into their squad. Dhoni is currently playing with Rising Pune Supergiants and his contract with the team will be over by the end of this year.
