Dhaka, Aug 27 (IBNS): Bangladesh cricketer Mosaddek Hossain Saikat's wife has accused him of driving her out of home after torture demanding dowry, media reports said on Monday.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rosina Khan ordered the Sadar Upazila executive officer or UNO to investigate the case after admitting the charges brought by Mosaddek’s wife Sharmin Samira Usha on Sunday, reported Bangladeshi website bdnews24.com.

Mosaddek has been torturing Usha for dowry for a long time, Rezaul Karim Dulal, her lawyer told the website.

“He (Mosaddek) tortured her and drove her out of home for Tk 1 million in dowry on Aug 15,” the lawyer said.

Usha and Mosaddek married six years ago.

Mosaddek is currently present in the Bangladesh squad announced for the upcoming Asian Games.

According to media reports, the cricketer sent his wife a divorce letter on Aug 15.
