Bengal Premier Tennis League:Gagan TMT Durgapur Warriors make impressive show, defeat Howrah Hurricanes

Kolkata, Apr 21 (IBNS): Gagan TMT Durgapur Warriors stole the show at the Play Off of the first edition of the Bengal Premier Tennis League 2017, been held at the synthetic courts of the BTA Complex.

Gagan TMT Durgapur Warriors, who entered the Play Off as the top team from the group league whitewashed Howrah Hurricanes in the First Qualifier by 27 - 10 to enter the final. Howrah Hurricanes will meet the winner of Eliminator match, i.e. Midnapore Waves in the Second Qualifier to try and enter the final. Midnapore Waves got the better of Kolkata Crusaders in the Eliminator match by a convincing 27 - 17.

In few of the interesting matches, Midnapore Wave's Kunal Anand brushed aside Abhinansu Borthakur, representing Kolkata Crusaders by 6-3. Midnapore Wave's Amrita Mukherjee also  helped the team reach the Second Qualifier, as she won against Kolkata Crusader's Nithya Raj Babu Raj by a close 6-4.

Gagan TMT Durgapur Warrior's star player Vijay Kannan went cruel against Howrah Hurricane's Tejas Chaukulkar as he won by a straight 6-2. Sai Samhitha of Gagan TMT Durgapur Warriors also matched the scoreline of Kannan as she drubbed Howrah Hurricane's Rutuparna Choudhury by a dominating 6-2.

First Qualifier Match (Team 1 vs Team 2);
Gagan TMT Durgapur Warriors bt Howrah Hurricanes 27 - 10

Eliminator Match (Team 3 vs team 4);
Midnapore Waves bt Kolkata Crusaders 27 - 17

Second Qualifier is on court, which is between Howrah Hurrricanes (Loser of First Qualifier) and Midnapore Waves (Winner of Eliminator). The winner will enter the final and play against Gagan TMT Durgapur Warriors tomorrow at 5:30 pm.
