Kolkata, June 5 (IBNS): Top seed Chandreyee Hazra of Rishra, Hoogly, is on course for all win record in the DPS Ruby Park 37th State Sub junior (Boys & Girls U 15) here.

So far she proved herself invincible in this tournament and already confirmed title with a round to spare with 8 points after 8th round.

Her nearest rival Angira Chowdhury is far away to catch her with one and half point adrift.

In the boys section, title race is quite open as 6 contenders are running neck to neck. But overnight leader Sonkalan Bharathi, who caused a major upset by beating top seed Kaustav Chatterjee in the 6th round, lost the track by losing both rounds in the penultimate day.

After the end of 8th round, other overnight leader 3rd seed Saptorshi Gupta became sole leader with 7 points. Kaustav Chatterjee, 2nd seed Sarbojit Paul, 5th seed Aronyak Ghosh,  Arka Sengupta and Sudarshan Mitra are jointly chasing Saptorshi Gupta for the title with 6.5 points.

Minister of Power of West Bengal,  Manish Gupta  on Thursday visited the playing arena and encouraged the young aspirants.

He also promised to help Kolkata District Chess Association and Bengal Chess Association to organise National U-7 Chess tournament to be held in Kolkata in the month of September (1st to 9th September).
