CL T20: Kallis guides KKR to final

Hyderabad, Oct 2 (IBNS): Jacques Kallis scored a match-winning unbeaten 54 runs to help Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Australia's Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets and reach the final of the Champions League T20 here on Thursday.

Chasing 141 for victory, Kallis played the role of an anchor as KKR reached the target with five balls to spare.

Kallis scored 54 runs from 40 balls where he hit four boundaries and two sixes.

He joined Manish Pandey (40) to add 63 runs in the third wicket partnership to reach the target.

After Pandey departed, Kallis and Yusuf Pathan (14) added 34 runs in the fourth wicket and finished the game and did not leave the task further.

KKR's victory ensured they win their 14th match on trot.

Gautam Gambhir failed in the match as he contributed only 4 runs with his willow while the other opener  Robin Uthappa contributed only 17 runs.

Doug Bollinger, Xavier Doherty  and Ben Laughlin took a wicket apiece.

Earlier, the visitors scored 140 runs for the loss if six wickets.

Skipper Shoaib Malik was the top scorer for the side with his unbeaten 66.

He hit four boundaries and four sixes.

KKR spinners put up a strong performance as Yusuf Pathan,

Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla picking up a wicket each.

Pacer Andy Russell also scalped one.

KKR, the side which won the IPL this year fir the second time, reached the final of the tournament for CLt20 for the first time.
