Cricketer Prithvi Shaw becomes 1st player to score 800 runs in single edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy

New Delhi/UNI: Continuing his rich reign of form, Prithvi Shaw on Sunday became the first cricketer to score more than 800 runs in a single edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Shaw achieved the feat in the final of the tournament on Sunday against Uttar Pradesh.

Chasing 313, the Mumbai captain scored 73 runs from just 39 balls which included nine fours and two sixes and finished the tournament with 827 runs in eight matches.

Notably, Shaw was carried off the field after being hit on the chin during the the 24th over of the first innings.

However, he came back on the field after being treated by the teams’ physio.

Earlier, Madhav Kaushik and Akshdeep Nath played crucial knocks of 158 and 55 respectively as Uttar Pradesh posted a total of 312/4 in the allotted fifty overs.

Kaushik's unbeaten 158-run knock is the most number of runs scored by a batsman in the finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
