Dean Elgar puts South Africa comfortably ahead of India in Centurion

Centurion/IBNS: South African batter Dean Elgar's 185 powered South Africa to forge a comfortable lead of 163 over India in the first innings of the maiden Test match here Thursday.

Elgar slammed 185 off 287 balls while Marco Jansen scored a valuable 84 not out to take the hosts to 408.

Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful Indian bowler as he picked four wickets for 69 runs.

Earlier, India slammed 245 in the first innings, thanks to KL Rahul's century.

Rahul, who was the only batter to succeed with the bat, scored 101.
