Paris, July 21 (IBNS):  World Cup runners-up Croatia's center back Duje Caleta-Car has signed a contract with French club Marseille.

The Croatian player has signed a five-year contract with the club.

"FC Red Bull Salzburg and Olympique de Marseille have reached an agreement for the transfer of Duje Caleta-Car, who today signed a 5-year contract after successfully passing his medical examinations," read the statement issued by Marseille.

Twenty-one-year-old Croatian international Duje Caleta-Car has become the first OM signing of the 2018/19 season.

A runner-up at the FIFA World Cup with Croatia and starter in the third match of the group stages - against Iceland - he has been with Red Bull Salzburg for four seasons, winning the Austrian Bundesliga four times to go along with three national cups.

Last season, Duje played 28 league games and 13 Europa League matches.

A pure central defender, Duje Caleta-Car, boasts an impressive physical presence. He is powerful and athletic (1.92m, 89 kg) with a very strong aerial game.
