Kolkata, May 26 (IBNS): The Eden Gardens, one of the iconic cricket grounds in the country, has won the award for being the best Indian Premier League (IPL) venue in 2018.

Former Indian cricket team captain and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly tweeted, "CAB GETS IPL HONOURS The CAB is happy to inform that Eden Gardens has once again been awarded the best venue and ground of IPL 2018. The CAB takes this opportunity to thank all who have contributed to this success beginning with the ground staff, @bcci@icc"

The Eden Gardens had hosted nine matches of IPL 2018 in total.

After hosting seven league matches of home team Kolkata Knight Riders, the Eden Gardens had hosted two playoff matches.

The eliminator and second qualifier matches, which were earlier scheduled to be held in Pune, were moved to Kolkata after the western city became Chennai Super Kings' home venue in the middle of the tournament.
