England win toss, put up 137 runs for the loss of 2 wickets

Mumbai, Dec 8 (IBNS): Winning the toss and electing to bat first, England have put on 137 runs for the loss of two wickets here on Thursday, day one of the fourth Test match against India.

At lunch England had put on 117 runs for the loss of one wicket.

English skipper Alastair Cook (46) was the first to depart, followed by Joe Root (21), who departed post lunch.

Cook and his new batting partner Keaton Jennings add 99 runs for the opening wicket and the latter forged another 37-run partnership with Root.

Jennings, the debutant, is presently batting on 68 runs alongside Moeen Ali (1 not out).

Ravindra Jadeja accounted for Cook, while Ashwin removed Root.
