Doha/ IBNS: In a close battle, Croatia defeated Brazil by 4-2 in a penalty shootout becoming the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The match extended into extra time witnessing each side scoring 1-1.

Neymar scored in the extra time to put Brazil in front but Bruno Petkovic equalised the score with just minutes left for the extra-time whistle to go off.

The Brazilians, however, fell short in the tie-breaker stage with Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic rising on the occasion.

With this Croatia qualify for two consecutive World Cup semi-finals in a row.
